Copper Canyon Train Tours

Most Copper Canyon train tours are all exclusive. However, they are quite reasonably priced and will usually fit into most vacation budgets. These will take you through a canyon that is considerably larger than the Grand Canyon and allow one to explore the Mexican Sierra Madre Mountains.

There are seven as well as fourteen day tours and offers a look at exactly what Mexico has to offer. Lets take a look at one of these tours and especially the fourteen day "Ultimate" trip to see what they have to offer.

Days one and two will be spent in the city of El Fuerte. A very small that was founded by Don Francisco de lbarra, a Spanish Conquistador. It is well known for both gold as well as silver mining. And, day two also will take you to an actual Mayan Indian village. Day three takes you up the mountains and through its many tunnels and across its many bridges. You will stay at the Paradise of the Bear lodge. It was called this since the rock formation looks uncannily like Yogi Bear. Day four will take you to the bottom of the canyon and allow exploring in the villages. Day five includes the train ride to eight thousand feet above sea level town of Divisadero. This is where one can view the whole canyon complex from one point. You will stay in a lodge right at the canyons edge. Day six includes a hiking trip to the Tarahumara caves and another train ride to the town of Creel. Days seven and eight are in Creel and allow cave exploring and viewing of the canyon.

These are the first eight days of a tremendous fourteen day trip. The following days will be filled with shopping, exploring, and sightseeing of these majestic canyons. Also, in the days that follow are items that also include waterfalls, Pancho Villa's home, a tour of Chihuahua and its murals and so much more. One special highlight is the farewell banquet that is given on the thirteenth night and is a bounty of traditional foods.

The price for this trip is around three thousand five hundred dollars and included in this price is usually airfare to and from as well as meals and accommodations.

Coincidently, the television show, "Man Vs Wild" featured these canyons and the movie "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada" was filmed here. There is also a famous book that details the Tarahumara village and is called "In the Sierra Madre." However, contrary to popular belief, "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" starring Humphrey Bogart was not filmed here.

Therefore, if mountains, canyons, caves, and isolated mountain villages are to you liking, seriously consider one of these Copper Canyon train tours. They are led by excellent guides and offer a look at a place where there is much history.
